Is Ireland’s construction industry growing?

“You’d have to be nuts not to take advantage of the unique investment opportunity presented by one of the most business-friendly countries in the world, with the youngest, best-educated workforce in Europe.” – Bill Clinton on Ireland in October 2013 at the second Global Irish Economic Forum in Dublin.

This, amongst other indicators, such as a Deloitte survey of chief financial officers in Ireland where 96% believed the construction industry is on the up, seem to suggest that the Irish Economy has finally returned to growth.

Other reasons for such positive attitudes are an increase in construction activity according to Ulster Bank’s Construction Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI), a drop in the national unemployment rate including a 52% increase in construction earnings according to Hays Ireland, and €6.8 billion of large and medium projects are already scheduled for 2014 according to Construction Information Services.

Ireland is also home to some of the world’s biggest companies who are continually investing in their Irish operations and many new tech start-ups who want to be based here also.
